Course description
Chromatography is an important analytical tool in virtually every aspect of life, such as forensic, environmental, and petroleum industry. Chromatography is one of the major techniques used in modern analytical labs it is used to separate complex mixtures of different molecules based on their physical or chemical properties. It is an excellent tool to analyze gas and liquid samples containing hundreds or even hundreds of thousands of different molecules. The technique allows the analyst to identify both the types of molecular species and their concentrations. This course covers all the practical fundamental theory of Gas Chromatography systems and its related techniques from sample introduction through to data analysis. Finally, the participants will gain in-depth knowledge of the instrument components, along with their principles of operation.

Dr. Hassan Al-RabiahKISR, KuwaitDr. Hassan Al-Rabiah is a Research Scientist in Petroleum Research Center (PRC) at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research. He obtained his Ph.D. in Petroleum Chemistry from the University of Leeds (England) in 2003. He has more than 28 years of experience in petroleum products evaluation and testing. He worked in various R&D projects in the petroleum chemistry field. He has extensive knowledge of various analytical procedures and techniques used for petroleum products characterization and crude oil assays. He has strong experience in chromatography, mainly in two-dimensional gas chromatography. He also conducted several training courses in petroleum characterization and refining processes. He is the Former Assistant Secretary-General of Gulf Chemists Union, Ex Vice-President of the Kuwait Chemical Society, Member of the Counselling Committee of the Union of Arab Chemists and member in many professional organizations such as Royal Chemical Society and Energy Institute.
